Verstappen 'depressed' by Monaco mishap
Dr Helmut Marko says Max Verstappen was in a "depressed" state after the Monaco Grand Prix. Verstappen finished ninth, after having to start from last on the grid, but Daniel Ricciardo converted the team's strength in Monte Carlo to win from pole.
Red Bull were on the pace all weekend in the principality, with Ricciardo topping the timesheets in every practice and qualifying session before taking the chequered flag on Sunday, despite suffering a power failure.
Verstappen was matching his team-mate until FP3, when he clipped the wall at the swimming pool chicane and damaged his gearbox in a subsequent trip into the barriers.

The Dutchman could not take part in qualifying and could only salvage a minor points-paying place.
Ricciardo's second win of the year means he now has more than double Verstappen's point tally and has been spoken of as a genuine title contender, with Marko saying the younger Red Bull driver must look to himself if he is to catch up.
"In part, the criticism is justified," Marko told Motorsport-Magazin. "China and Monte Carlo were just stupid mistakes. But that does not change his speed and talent.
"All we have to do is drive through and then he will stand on the podium again and the whole thing will calm down.
"I've rarely seen him so depressed as in Monte Carlo.
"He takes it very much to heart that his teammate won and he drove to just ninth place.
"The problem is not that he was out of control, it is his ambition to always want to be ahead in every situation.
"He has to learn now to be patient and to estimate when situations are important and when it is not important."
