F1 Penalty Points 2025: One star handed DOUBLE punishment
Williams F1 star Alex Albon was the only racer to pick up a penalty point at a dramatic Las Vegas Grand Prix.
In a race that saw McLaren duo and title challengers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri both disqualified for excessive skid wear, other drivers largely behaved themselves.
The exception was Albon, who was adjudged to have caused a collision with Lewis Hamilton heading into turn 14, and was hit with a double whammy penalty of a five-second time penalty and an extra penalty point being added to his superlicence.
It takes Albon up to five penalty points for the 12-month period, although two of those are set to expire after the Qatar GP next time out.
12 points over a 12-month period are enough to see F1 stars slapped with a one-race ban from the sport, as we saw with Kevin Magnussen last season when he was driving for Haas.
Ollie Bearman remains the closest to a one-race ban, now sat on nine penalty points for the 12-month period after an incident during the Brazilian GP sprint race.
The Brit is now one big infringement away from a ban and with none of his points set to expire until May 2026.
