Grosjean finally pain-free 53 days after miracle escape from fireball crash

Romain Grosjean has confirmed he is finally pain-free for the first time since his fiery crash in the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Grosjean has been making steady progress since almost losing his life at the Bahrain International Circuit at the end of November.

Driving for Haas, Grosjean struck a metal retaining barrier on the inside of the exit to turn three after contact with then AlphaTauri driver Daniil Kvyat, with his car bursting into flames on impact as the car was ripped in half.

The 34-year-old managed to clamber to safety as the blaze took hold, resulting in him spending a few days in a local hospital due to the burns he sustained, notably to his left hand.

Last week, Grosjean was finally able to remove the bandages from that hand, revealing the burn marks that are slowly healing.

Grosjean has now taken another positive step in his recovery as today [Wednesday] he has confirmed that for the first time since the crash he has not required any painkilling medication.

It is understood Grosjean is also soon set to announce his return to driving by signing a contract with Dale Coyne Racing for the new IndyCar season.
