Vettel denies Ferrari retirement rumours
Vettel denies Ferrari retirement rumours
Sebastian Vettel has responded to the recent rumours that he is set to retire from Formula 1 at the end of the current season with Ferrari, saying he has “no plans” to stop racing as he is still having fun in his job with the Maranello outfit.
The German’s form, as well as that of Ferrari, has been poor in 2019 so far as they have allowed Mercedes to dominate. The Silver Arrows claimed a record-equalling five one-two finishes in the opening five races this season, with a botched pitstop involving Valtteri Bottas the main reason they didn’t claim a sixth in Monte Carlo.
The Scuderia’s campaign has been blighted by a lack of speed around the corners and poor strategy relating to team orders for Vettel and Charles Leclerc.
Following the Monaco Grand Prix, veteran F1 journalist Joe Saward wrote in his latest newsletter: "The most shocking rumour that started to spread in the paddock in Monaco is that Sebastian Vettel is considering retiring from F1 at the end of the season at the age of 31.”

However, the four-time world champion says there is no truth in the speculation, and is looking forward to kickstarting his season this weekend at the Canadian GP.
“I have no plans to stop,” he told Auto BIld. “I still have lots of fun, and I still have something to do at Ferrari.”
“We want to try everything again this season to bring about the turnaround and the Canadian Grand Prix should be the beginning."
After six races, Vettel is third place in the driver’s championship, trailing the leader Lewis Hamilton by 55 points.
