Mercedes' Monaco GP livery tribute to Lauda revealed

Mercedes' Monaco GP livery tribute to Lauda revealed

Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas will run in the Monaco Grand Prix with special liveries dedicated to Niki Lauda after the Mercedes non-executive chairman's passing this week. Teams up and down the grid are also planning tributes to the three-time world champion.

Lauda passed away this week after suffering from kidney problems. The 70-year-old had been ill for some time and required a life-saving lung transplant after contracting a virus while on holiday in Spain last year.

F1 is set to organise tributes for the Monaco weekend, a minute's silence before the race is anticipated.

Lauda took charge of many aspects at the Mercedes team after purchasing a stake in 2013, and was crucial in the appointment of Hamilton from McLaren later that year.

A special livery, with a red star in tribute to the Austrian, his signature and "Danke Niki" will be run in Monte Carlo.
