Ferrari make bold claim after costly F1 errors
Mattia Binotto has boldly claimed there is "nothing to change" at Ferrari despite a catalogue of reliability and strategic errors this season.
Prior to the Hungarian Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc had lost over 100 points primarily due to reliability and strategic missteps but the driver had also cost himself 32 points with two unforced errors.
Ferrari has been widely criticised for its continued mistakes with the majority of the ire aimed at the strategists.
The disastrous decision to fit hard tyres in Budapest followed errors at Monaco and Silverstone, both of which were races that Leclerc could have won.
But once again, team principal Binotto defended his colleagues.
“It is not a matter of bad luck and there is nothing to change as well," said Binotto.
"I think it is always a matter of continuous learning and building – building experience, building skills, and in this race there is certainly something we need to look into and understand why.
“But if I look again at the balance of the first half of the season, there is no reason why we should change.
"I think we simply need to address what was wrong [in this race] that we first need to understand and then to address [it] and try to be back competitive as we have been in 12 races so far.
"There is no reason why this cannot be the case at the next [races].”
