Is Alonso the right driver to replace Vettel?
Is Alonso the right driver to replace Vettel?
Fernando Alonso will replace Sebastian Vettel at Aston Martin next year but is he the right man for the job?
The Spaniard is unquestionably one of the finest drivers to have competed in F1 but unlike many before him, his ability appears not to have been diminished by time after turning 41 earlier this year.
Rather than hiring a younger driver to race alongside Lance Stroll for 2023, Aston Martin made the marquee signing of Alonso.
Although this is likely to yield quick results, the move cannot be viewed as a long-term solution given Alonso's age.
There are certainly arguments both for and against Alonso being the right man for the job but we want to know what you think.
