Norris reveals reasons behind his stellar F1 season
Norris has crossed the 100-point threshold for the first time in his F1 career
Lando Norris believes the reason for currently enjoying his most successful F1 season to date is due to him eliminating the "silly mistakes" from his driving.
Since joining the F1 grid in 2019, Norris has consistently impressed but this year the Briton has been one of the top performers, scoring three podiums and crossing the 100-point mark for the first time.
Assessing his performances, Norris said: “One hundred per cent I’m doing better this year than I did last year.
"I had moments last year where I was doing as well, as I have done this year, but just less consistently. So I would have a good race but follow it up with a not-so-strong one or just follow it up with some silly mistakes and things.
“The main thing I have done well this year is just having the consistency side of it. I don’t think there have been any missed opportunities anywhere.
"Maybe in qualifying you could maybe say I could have been one or two positions ahead like in Imola, but in terms of race performance, there has never been anything big.
“I’m happy with how I’ve been doing. I don’t think I ever get ahead of myself and get too confident or too cocky or anything like that.
"I always want more, so I’m never satisfied with what I’ve done. I always believe there’s potential to do better in myself and everything."
"Boring" factors behind Norris form
Pressed on what was behind his improved form this season, with Norris fourth in the championship going into his home race at Silverstone this weekend and ahead of Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas, the Briton revealed the secret to be far from exciting.
"I’m continuing to try and improve, I’m still learning," added Norris.
"A lot of it is just down to work really, spending more time with my engineers and the people around me to improve on things, doing a better job every weekend, reviewing everything I can.
“The boring, obvious things really. Just hard work. It’s probably not the most fun answer or interesting but it’s the one which makes the biggest difference.”
