Video: Why Mercedes shouldn't wait until 2022 to sign Russell

It seems an obvious - but difficult - move to make

George Russell produced a stellar performance across the Sakhir Grand Prix weekend that has Formula 1's managing director motorsports Ross Brawn hailing him as being "future F1 champion material".

Contracts in place for next season for Valtteri Bottas with Mercedes and Russell at Williams naturally dictate matters, but Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff has been given "a headache", according to the 22-year-old Briton.

So here is why we at GPFans believe Wolff should move now to get Russell in next year's W12 rather than wait until 2022 after what will have been a three-year stint waiting in the wings for his big opportunity.
