Silverstone Experience closed 'until at least 1 May'
The Silverstone Experience is to close its doors to the public just 12-days after being opened by the Duke of Sussex and Lewis Hamilton.
Showcasing the history of the circuit, 'The Silverstone Experience' has followed British government advice in closing and will remain shut throughout April.
"As part of the preventative measures taken by the Government to delay the spread of the Coronavirus, the decision has been taken by Silverstone Heritage Ltd (the charity that runs The Silverstone Experience) to temporarily close the museum to the public from 6pm on Wednesday 18 March," read the official statement. "The health and welfare of our staff, volunteers and visitors is our priority. While we are currently unable to say when we will re-open, we expect the closure will last until at least 1 May.
"Customers with an existing booking will be contacted and should check the website for the latest opening information. If you have booked a gift ticket for another person please contact them immediately as we do not hold their contact details. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time and we look forward to welcoming you to The Silverstone Experience soon."We are temporarily closed to the public from 6pm on Wednesday 18 March. The health and welfare of our staff, volunteers and visitors is our priority. While we are currently unable to say when we will re-open, we expect the closure will last until at least 1 May.

Speaking at the grand opening on March 6, Hamilton said that he hoped the museum would inspire more children from all backgrounds to consider a future in motorsport - the issue of diversity a subject close to the Mercedes driver's heart.
“The Silverstone Experience is a great way to inspire kids to look more closely at the automotive industry," said Hamilton at the opening.
“There is a real lack of diversity in Formula 1, and across the entire industry, despite the amazing career opportunities available.
“We need to do more to make it accessible to all. Diversity starts at the grassroots and if we can begin to change the make-up of those working in the racing teams and the factories, we can change the industry as a whole.”
