Hamilton's Saturday Suzuka plans spell danger

Lewis Hamilton's plans to travel to Tokyo in the midst of Typhoon Hagibis might need rearranging as the Formula 1 champion ponders what to do on a surprise day off.

With hurricane conditions set to hit Japan on Saturday, all on-track action has been cancelled at Suzuka, with matches in the Rugby World Cup also called off.

Many drivers, team staff and indeed anyone else at Suzuka, faces a long Saturday bunkered down in hotel rooms, waiting for the worst to pass.

But Hamilton had other ideas.

"I will probably do some training and go back to Tokyo tonight, have a nice night and good food and then maybe come back tomorrow," Hamilton said.

The five-time world champion's plan has a significant flaw, Hagibis' flightpath suggests that Tokyo will be one of the worst affected areas and, as such, public transport services have been cancelled.

If he does make it to Tokyo, it could prove seriously tricky to get back in time for qualifying on Sunday morning!
