2019 Williams car to arrive in Barcelona on Wednesday morning
Williams' troubled start to pre-season testing could be set to take a more positive turn as they have released a statement confirming that their delayed FW42 car is set to finally arrive at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The team is running behind schedule, awaiting on car parts before they can actually bring the car to Spain for on-track testing. So far, they have missed Monday and Tuesday runs, with every other team having tested their car so far.
However, they are set to finally set to kick off pre-season preparations on Wednesday, according to a team statement.
"Our car looking likely to arrive at the circuit between 4-5am tomorrow morning," the statement read.
"Obviously there will still be a fair amount to do but we will be working as fast as we can. Unlikely to run before lunch though but I’ll update you further as I know more."
[UPDATE] @WilliamsRacing spokesperson confirms that the team's FW42 car is likely to arrive at the circuit between 4-5am tomorrow morning. There will still be a fair amount to do to get the car checked, set up and ready to run so unlikely to see any laps before lunch. #F1Testing pic.twitter.com/dhdVGerbvb — Rob Watts (@robwattsf1) February 19, 2019
The lack of a Williams car present in Barcelona has forced such figures as Claire Williams and Paddy Lowe to cancel scheduled media commitments.
The original plan for the week was to have third driver Nicholas Latifi earn some time behind the wheel, but due to the delays he will not get the chance, with time being saved by new drivers, Robert Kubica and George Russell.
