VIDEO: Hamilton allows Vettel to share top podium spot in Canada
The Canadian Grand Prix was shrouded by controversy on Sunday as Lewis Hamilton claimed the flag despite not crossing the line first. Sebastian Vettel, who led the race from start to finish, was given a five-second penalty by the FIA stewards for, in their opinion, illegally crossing into the path of the Brit at Turn 4.
The post-race atmosphere was chaotic as Vettel initially refused to go with protocol, ignoring the request for an interview from Sky Sports, while Hamilton was booed by the fans in the stands due to the decision from the stewards which aided his win.
However, professionalism and respect took over on the podium, as Hamilton actually allowed Vettel to step alongside him on the top podium position, in a symbolic gesture which suggests the Ferrari driver was the real winner.
