Ferrari pair Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc, and Daniel Ricciardo have each taken new engines for the Spanish Grand Prix, while McLaren duo Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris have also been furnished with fresh power unit components at the Circuit de Catalunya.

It was confirmed ahead of the weekend that Ferrari would introduce an upgraded internal combustion engine in Barcelona, two races ahead of schedule.

The Scuderia's customer teams Haas and Alfa Romeo are not fitted with the new engine.

Renault's new engine was also put into Ricciardo's car for the start of FP1, with the French manufacturer hoping for greater reliability. It is expected Nico Hulkenberg will follow suit later in the weekend.

Ricciardo is also fitted with a new turbocharger and MGU-H.

BBC Sport quoted Renault as saying that McLaren would also take the new engines for the race weekend, as well as the new electronics.
