Ricciardo 'done' with Red Bull after another DNF

Daniel Ricciardo says he is "done" with his misfiring Red bull car after suffering an eighth DNF of the season at the Mexican Grand Prix. The Australian's pole-position joy of Saturday soon turned to familiar misery on Sunday as he ground to a halt from second position nine laps from the end.

Ricciardo stunned teammate Max Verstappen by pipping him to pole, but a sluggish start cost him as the Dutchman went on to take a dominant victory in Mexico for the second year running.

The Australian will depart Red Bull for Renault in 2019 and has failed to finish four of the seven races since announcing his move in the summer break.

No driver has suffered more mechanical failures than Ricciardo this season and he gave his car both barrels after missing out on a certain podium finish.

"Helpless I think is the best word," Ricciardo said.

"Just another problem with this car, it has not been a clean weekend for so long.

"Even today… The starts have been good all weekend, the practice starts, but the race start was all over the place.

"Things are happening on Sunday that I've got no explanation for. The car's… I'll let Gasly drive it, I'm done with it."
