Ricciardo wants 'redemption' in Monaco
Daniel Ricciardo hopes Red Bull's improvements in 2018 can lead him to a redemptive performance at next week's Monaco Grand Prix. Ricciardo was robbed of a likely victory in Monte Carlo two years ago due to a bungled pit-stop, which opened the door for Lewis Hamilton.
The Australian took his first, and to date sole, pole position in F1 at the famous street race two years ago and held position despite tricky conditions in the rain.
As the track dried, Ricciardo had the win snatched from him wen he pitted for slick tyres, but the Red Bull garage was not ready for him, and the time wasted waiting for the extended service left him behind Hamilton as he emerged from the pits.
Mercedes have struggled for performance at Monaco in recent years, and Red Bull are expected to battle with Ferrari for victory, exciting Ricciardo a great deal.
Ricciardo said in a team release: "Monaco is my favourite race of the year because it creates the most adrenaline and excitement.
"The circuit is insane; I don't want to say that we shouldn't race cars on it because we should and it's the best thing ever, but it's crazy to think we race around the streets so close to the walls like we do.

"I just love the whole atmosphere, there's a lot of intensity and the risk and reward is the best of the year. Hopefully, I'll also get some redemption.
"Tabac and the swimming pool, I love all of that. Turns 12, 13 and 14, over the kerbs and pretty much the end of the second sector and start of the third is my favourite.
"The encouraging thing from Barcelona is that we were quick in the third sector and that is probably the closest to Monaco, so hopefully that shows what we can do."
