Hamilton criticises Miami street race proposal

Lewis Hamilton has expressed dissatisfaction with Liberty Media's proposed circuit for the Miami Grand Prix and has called on Formula 1's hierarchy to give him a say in how the track is designed. Widespread reaction from fans has mirrored that of the four-time world champion, with its long straights criticised.

An image shared on social media by district commissioner Ken Russell shows a route through downtown Miami and over the Port Boulevard bridge to Dodge Island.

The track will also circle the American Airlines Arena, home of NBA's Miami Heat, and the Freedom Tower.

Miami is set to host an F1 Live event in the build-up to this year's United States Grand Prix to give locals a taste of the sport, although many are unhappy at the proposals and have campaigned against the addition of a grand prix.

And Hamilton is similarly unimpressed, calling on F1 to allow him to take his creative touch to the plan.

"OK so I've just seen the design of the Miami track," Hamilton posted on Instagram.

"Na bruh, it's not the one. Let me design it."

F1 confirmed on Wednesday that a proposal has been made to add an event in downtown Miami, with the City of Miami Commission set to vote on whether it goes ahead.
