Gasly left speechless by fourth place finish in Bahrain

Pierre Gasly has admitted he is lost for words after his and Toro Rosso's stunning performance across the Grand Prix weekend in Bahrain, following up their sixth place in qualifying with a superb 4th place finish in the race proper.

Toro Rosso have shown surprising pace so far this season and continued that form into a thrilling Bahrain race, in which Sebastian Vettel held off the challenge of Valtteri Bottas to sneak over the line in first.

Hamilton could only manage third, meaning Vettel has opened up a gap at the top of the standings already, but Gasly's performance was the one raising eyebrows.

The Frenchman admitted post-race that the performance of the car is not only surprising to those watching - but to the team as well.

He beamed: "It's unbelievable, sixth in qualifying and fourth in the race.

"We never expected something like this. I'm super happy, struggling to realise.

"Big thanks to the team because the car was fantastic all weekend and today there was an opportunity and we had the car to take this.

"I don't really know what to say. I'm just super happy.

"Definitely we made a step this weekend. I don't know if we will be as fast in other races. For now we just need to enjoy as it's a great day for the team and for Honda and myself."

The fourth place represents the best performance of a Honda-powered car since the British Grand Prix in 2008, when Rubens Barrichello took third spot.
