Williams confirm first of its new sponsorship deals

Williams has announced a multi-year partnership with Zeiss

Williams has confirmed the first in a line of new sponsorship deals ahead of the upcoming Formula 1 season.

Although the team unveiled a new car last week that was bereft of sponsors, CEO Jost Capito declared there would be "some announcements soon".

Williams has now revealed that optics and optoelectronics company Zeiss has become an official supplier.

Zeiss will have its logo on the mirrors of the FW43B from the season-opening race in Bahrain as well as on the sponsor stacks in the garage and motorhome.

Williams claims the partnership will see Zeiss "provide a range of equipment benefiting departments throughout the business including windtunnel, quality & inspection and prototype & test".

In particular, there will be "the installation of a new, class-leading Metrotom 1500 industrial computed tomography system at the factory in Grove that will expand the team’s in-house capabilities and deliver greater insights into the quality and integrity of components, ensuring a precise, accurate and robust quality control process"

Williams head of technical partnerships and innovation Al Peasland said: "Their passion for excellence, and presence as a global leader, will bring new metrology capabilities into the Williams team.

"The competitive world of Formula One racing demands a continuous drive towards ever greater precision and quality. We’re excited to have Zeiss join us on this journey of transformation as we enter a new era for Williams Racing.”
