Crank starter F1

Formula 1 may be used by manufacturers to pioneer future road-going technology but in terms of actually starting the car, it is far removed from the real world.

The majority of cars on the road are started either with the push of a button or the turn of a key, but with an F1 car, this is simply not possible.

The cars are highly strung. Oil and other fluids must be fed into the system at exactly the right temperature before you can even begin to consider turning over the motor.

GPFans presents an in-depth look at an aspect of F1 that is not as simple as you might have thought.
