Hamilton believes Mugello will serve up "shock and surprise"
Lewis Hamilton believes Mugello will serve up "shock and surprise" when he savours it for the first time in practice for the Tuscan Grand Prix.
Formula 1 makes its debut at the circuit this weekend after adding the Ferrari-owned track to a calendar depleted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Six-time world champion Hamilton is relishing the challenge of learning a circuit that many of his rivals have described as awesome.
Hamilton, though, opted not to undertake a track walk on Thursday to assess the issues that might lie ahead, declaring: "I like seeing it for the first time when I get out there. It is usually a shock and surprise at the same time.
"I will definitely enjoy the learning process of this track and the challenges we will face, but I can't tell you if it is a great track yet."
With the prospect of the Tuscan Grand Prix being a one-off spectacle in the sport as it is hoped the situation will return to normal for 2021, a win for Hamilton would add another statistic to his name as the only driver to win an F1 race at the venue.
But the Mercedes driver has dismissed such a potential accolade as it would just "be another race" to him.
"I am not someone for records so it wouldn't mean much really," he explained.
"Honestly, I have got so many races I have done so it would just be another race. I don't look at those tallies."
