Formula 1 celebrates Project Pitlane

Rivalries out the window, Formula 1 pulled together like never before

The combined efforts of all ten Formula 1 teams in fighting Covid-19 have been celebrated by the sport.

Across various projects, every single current Formula 1 team joined the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. 'Project Pitlane' saw the majority of teams work to design improved ventilators, 10,000 of which were ordered by the National Health Service.

Mercedes worked with the University College of London to reverse engineer and produce breathing apparatus for frontline workers, again, with a large order placed.

Red Bull and Renault put on track differences to one side and engaged in Project BlueSky, developing portable ventilators.

Ferrari worked alongside the Italian Institute of Technology, producing a new ventilator in only five-weeks as part of an open source project.

Although there has been no on-track racing, the joint efforts of Formula 1 teams in the race to defeat Covid-19 has given fans a reason to be proud of their sport and the people that make it.
