Brazil crash was probably Vettel's fault - Binotto

Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto echoed Charles Leclerc's assertion that Sebastian Vettel is aware that the fault for the drivers' Brazilian GP collision rests on his shoulders.

Tensions have simmered between Leclerc and Vettel through much of the season, but bubbled over in Brazil as their wheels touched and caused significant damage, forcing both to retire.

It left Ferrari stewing over a first double DNF since the Singapore GP in 2017, but the team have said that clear-the-air talks have been held between team boss Binotto and the drivers.

Leclerc revealed on Thursday that he and Vettel would be allowed to race, but added: "I think probably Seb shouldn't have gone to the left and he knows it."

And Binotto backed up Leclerc's view when speaking to Sky Sports at the Abu Dhabi GP, saying Vettel "probably" knew that he was mostly to blame.

Binotto added in Friday's press conference: "It's something we discussed internally.

"They are both very good drivers. They know exactly what to do. I think it has been unfortunate what happened, but it will not happen again.

"Is one driver more to blame than the other? I think it's not important. Because clearly that time it could have been maybe Seb [at fault], next time [it] will be Charles.

"They are two drivers fighting, they can both of them make mistakes. At the end, what's important is to make sure that whether it's the one in Brazil, or the next time, it's not happening again.

"And again, I don't think there is much to discuss. That's something which is between our factory, between us, something we discussed."
