Vettel's 'astonishingly bad' Italian GP panned by F1 fans
While Charles Leclerc's memory of his first Italian Grand Prix victory will live long in the memory, Sebastian Vettel endured a weekend to forget at Monza.
Saturday's qualifying farce left Vettel fourth on the grid, when he would have expected much better amid Ferrari's greater pace and a planned tow at the end of Q3, which never materialised.
Having failed to make progress from his grid slot, Vettel's race fell apart as he spun unchallenged at the Ascari Chicane, then clipped Lance Stroll's car as he rejoined the track unsafely.
He went on to finish a lowly 13th after battling Williams' George Russell, the only driver this year without a championship point to his name.
The performance attracted much mirth and criticism online. Here are a few posts that caught the eye.
