Ferrari have found more downforce for Hungary

Mattia Binotto says Ferrari have managed to bring more downforce to its car as they look to solve the cornering issues that have hampered them so far this season.

The SF90's power unit is widely accepted to be the most powerful on the grid, but the Scuderia are in Hungary this weekend still searching for a first win of the season.

With top speeds rarely in doubt, the Hungaroring's shorter and twistier nature was not expected to play into Ferrari's hands, with Red Bull's traditional and Mercedes' newfound aerodynamic strength coming to the fore.

However, Sebastian Vettel in particular has looked strong through practice and Binotto says upgrades brought to Budapest may be making a difference.

"Have we improved our downforce yet, are we where we should be? Not yet. Therefore the downforce levels, there is still some development required," Binotto said.

"But the car has improved. Certainly we have learned how to use it in terms of set-up, but certainly we have put some more downforce on the car as well.

"There is still a long way to go. I'm quite curious to see what happens this weekend [in Hungary].

"It's a track where downforce is important, I'm expecting our competitors to be stronger and stronger but I think we can start to challenge them. Hungary will be important for us to understand where we are."
