Wolff: There's not enough people applying for F1 jobs

Susie Wolff has revealed that her husband, Toto Wolff, has confessed his worry that not enough people, whether it be male or female, are applying for jobs within the Formula One industry and that teams are subsequently suffering from a staff shortage.

Mercedes is one of the biggest employers in F1, but team boss Toto Wolff and their HR manager have expressed their concern to Susie Wolff that top positions are not attracting enough new talent.

"He is not concerned about what gender they employ," she told Forbes in regards to Toto's concerns.

"He's just concerned about the level of talent and he will always pick the best candidate for that role, regardless of gender.

"I think they're very conscious of the fact that there's not enough people applying for the top positions. The Head of HR at Mercedes is also very aware of that and is trying to change the situation."

To complicate matters for the F1 teams, Liberty Media's proposed budget caps are set to come into play within the next few seasons which will mean current jobs are put at risk.

Christian Horner, the Red Bull boss, has previously stated that "thousands of jobs" could be at risk within the sport.
