Sam Cook is a talented young sports journalist and social media professional who now specialises in Formula 1. Sam is a huge F1 fan and his earliest memories of the sport include the fantastic battles between Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso during the latter stages of Schumacher's Ferrari days. Sam is a multi-skilled media professional, with expertise in writing long-form news articles, as well as creating high-quality digital assets and short-form video content for social media, working with a variety of different brands across his professional career. Having worked for a variety of different publications and brands including Vavel and Salford Now on a volunteer basis after graduating from the University of Salford with a first class honours degree in Broadcast Journalism, Sam went down a social media route, working for Manchester City and Manchester Utd producing sports content. In 2023, Sam decided to make the switch back to journalism, where he has since excelled in writing motorsport articles and becoming part of the GPFans team! Outside of work, Sam is a keen runner and regularly competes in 5k and 10k racing events, and has also recently completed his first half marathon.
Sam has an extensive knowledge of F1, both past and present, and he can often be seen scouring through FIA sporting regulations and F1 statistics pages trying to find yet more niche statistics to add to his knowledge of the sport. Sam is also interesting in junior categories F2 and F1 Academy, as well having up to date knowledge of other FIA racing series such as WRC, Formula E and the WEC.
Sam transferred his knowledge learnt from the marketing recruitment industry straight into his social media marketing work with a plethora of huge sports clubs, before throwing himself into the world of journalism armed with the tools to engage audiences and help to capitalise on the growth of F1 among a younger, new generation of fans.
Sam tries to engage his audience with niche F1 statistics which will captivate readers and hopefully teach them something new about F1 past or present. Maintaining an exceptionally high level of accuracy across the GPFans website is also something that is crucial to Sam, not wanting to mislead readers in any way, completing due diligence on every report that we find in the world of F1.
