FIA admission of "human error" is a "good step forward" - Wolff
The report into Abu Dhabi was finaly released in Bahrain
Toto Wolff believes the "acknowledgement" of a "human error" in the FIA's report into the controversial Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is "a good step forward".
The governing body released its findings after a lengthy inquiry into the processes that were implemented during the late safety car period at Yas Marina last year that preceded Max Verstappen's dramatic last-lap pass on Lewis Hamilton to take a maiden world title.
Mercedes and Hamilton were left reeling at being denied in such circumstances, with the highly anticipated report only released ahead of the first qualifying of the new season.
It indicated the lapped car procedural failures were "human error", as well as a number of systematic flaws that contributed to the situation.
Giving his reaction to the report, Wolff said: "I think it is a massive step-change to what we have seen before.
"Whether the report is complete or not, to release it is a good step forward in terms of governance and you can read it either way.
"For us, there is a sentence that says 'human error' and the acknowledgement of it is I think very important and now to close the chapter.
"I know it has come out but I have not been thinking about Abu Dhabi anymore since our car has proven to be not competitive on the track for this year."
