Norris - Success hasn't changed McLaren
McLaren has enjoyed a return to form with a one-two in Monza and pole in Russia
Lando Norris has claimed "success hasn't changed us" after McLaren's recent successes with a one-two in Italy and pole position in Russia.
McLaren registered its first victory since 2012 in Italy and came agonisingly close to backing the result up with further success immediately through Norris in Russia with the Briton starting from his maiden F1 pole.
Whilst Norris was on course to take his first win, rain fell to thwart him and take away the victory in cruel fashion.
Speaking ahead of the Russian Grand Prix, however, Norris explained confidence is at a high within McLaren.
“We’re obviously feeling good, feeling confident, but we’re just working the same way as we have done all year and when things just go more a bit our way we get rewarded in a nicer way," explained Norris.
“But I think we’ve been working well all season. We’ve not changed our approach, we’re not doing anything differently.
"I think we’re working the same way as we have been all year, in a good way, and we’re making improvements in as many areas as possible."
Pressed as to whether the lack of change means he views things as being "perfect" within the team, Norris said categorically that this was not the case.
“No, definitely not," he added. "I said we’ve not changed our approach but there is always little things we change in the background because there is always room for improvements.
"But success hasn’t changed us. Just because we had a good weekend, I don’t think that side of it has changed.
“We change every weekend because we’re trying to find improvements in every area and there are always improvements to make."
McLaren "a good group of lads and Sheilas"
After a number of years spent towards the back of the grid, McLaren has enjoyed a rapid rise back to the front of F1.
Asked what had changed within the team, Ricciardo joked: “Andreas [Seidl, team principal], he used to disallow the use of caffeine within the team and now it’s an open shop…I’m just kidding. No, nothing.
“We’re in good spirits. We’re building in confidence and I think the team was already building this over the last few years. It’s just continuing on that path and I think everyone’s settled in the team.
“I think they’re just growing together. It’s just a good group, a good group of lads and Sheilas.”
