Hamilton to provide rain-soaked Belgian GP fans with "an exclusive gift"

Lewis Hamilton is to provide fans who attended the rain-lashed Belgian Grand Prix with "an exclusive gift" as a reward for their patience in the horrendous conditions.

Thousands of fans stood for hours in the rain and cold hoping to see a race, only for the event to be called off nearly four hours after its original start time and following just two laps behind the safety car.

Post-race, Hamilton immediately called for the fans to be refunded, which initially met with resistance from F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali.

F1, however, is now in discussions with the race promoters who are considering their options over some form of recompense.

Hamilton, though, has decided to be proactive and via his Instagram account has posted a message that reads: "To all fans who attended Spa!! Lewis is doing something special for you."

After being requested to click on a link, the portal takes you to the lhamiltoncrew web page where fans are asked to fill in their details and download an image of their Belgian GP ticket as proof they attended the event.

A further message reads: "Fill out the form and a surprise will be delivered to your inbox with access to an exclusive gift from Lewis!"
