Wolff - "We all have reasons to be upset" after Belgian GP washout

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff believes all teams have "reasons to be upset" following the Belgian Grand Prix washout.

Only two 'racing' laps were completed on Sunday at Spa Francorchamps, albeit behind the safety car that ensured half points could be awarded.

Aside from the positioning of Sergio Perez who crashed on his way to the grid, the final classification was a reflection of the results of qualifying with Lewis Hamilton third and Valtteri Bottas P13.

Reflecting on the events that unfolded, Wolff said: “I think we all have reasons to be upset.

"Half points have been awarded when probably it was expected that the weather wouldn’t get any better but it is what it is."

The result, which saw Max Verstappen emerge the winner, means the Dutch driver is just three points behind Hamilton in the driver's standings, with Red Bull closing the gap on Mercedes in the constructors' standings to seven.

“I guess you need to take this one on the chin and close the chapter for this race and move on," he added.

“In a certain way, we must really applaud the fans that have been there for three days in the rain. They have waited for a race to happen.

“But as a team, we lost some points and that is why we have to move on.”
