Life-long Real Madrid fan Fernando Alonso loves Cristiano Ronaldo, with the driver claiming that CR7 is a better player than Barcelona rival Lionel Messi.

The two-time F1 Champion has admitted than although he is an admirer of the Argentine superstar, he reserves his biggest praise for his beloved Real Madrid, and espacially Ronaldo.

In an interview with Spanish sports daily Marca, he stated: “For me, Cristiano is better than Messi.

“Of course, Messi is an incredible talent but as a Real Madrid fan, I’m only interested in Los Blancos players.

“I was born to be a Real Madrid fan.”

Even though most Madridistas would admit that CR7 is their favourite player in the famous white kit, Alonso also confessed his affection for two stars not given the same praise as the multiple Ballon d’Or winner.

“As I said, I’m a big fan of Real Madrid and really like Marcelo and Casemiro, two great Brazilians who play for the club,” the 36-year-old added.

“I still love football a lot and try to play it sometimes too but above all, I most enjoy watching on TV.”

The World Cup takes place next year in Russia and it is clear to see from his favourite players that he is a fan of the Selecao as well as his homeland, Spain.

Alonso offered his opinion on the two favourites to win the tournament, stating: “Brazil and Spain are the best teams.”
