Nico Rosberg has revealed that no amount of money would tempt him into making what would be a shock return to F1.

Rosberg retired from the sport after fulfilling his dream of following in the footsteps of father Keke and becoming an F1 champion in his right in 2016 after a bitter battle with then Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton.

Rosberg has since moved on with his career to become a sustainability entrepreneur, while also running his own team in the new Extreme E series.

The 35-year-old German also makes occasional trips to the paddock working as a television pundit but has no intention of making a full-time return either as a driver or working with a team in another capacity.

"Salary has never played a role for me," said Rosberg, speaking to formel1.de. "I still had two years left on my contract [with Mercedes when he quit], and the salary on that contract also had a lot of zeroes on it.

"You can't motivate me with money. I have zero interest in that. I fulfilled my career the way I wanted to, with the world title, and I'm happy about my new life.

"So the thought [of a return] never came up there, and it never will. That's over."

Rosberg will not follow Wolff into management

Rosberg has also stated that witnessing first-hand what Toto Wolff endures on a day-to-day basis as Mercedes team principal has also put him off one day following in the Austrian's footsteps.

"That doesn't appeal to me," added Rosberg. "It would be too much.

"It's a full-time job - morning, noon, evening, the whole day. When I see how intensely Toto works on the Formula 1 team, that's not for me. I want to avoid that in my life.

"I experienced that as a driver, that intensity and dependence, and I don't want that again."
