Why Hamilton is going to "get in trouble" with Mercedes

F1's Grill the Grid is already causing chaos on its return

F1's Grill the Grid is back and has already caused mischief in the paddock.

Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes may have created some fantastic memories during their eight seasons together but the seven-time champion may be on the receiving end of some leg-pulling from team principal Toto Wolff.

The challenge was to name an F1 team past or present for each letter of the alphabet. When it came to the letter 'M', Hamilton drew a blank before rushing to say McLaren, his former employers.

When reminded that Mercedes was an answer, he replied: "Oh shoot, yeah, I'm going to get in trouble for that."

Hamilton was not the only one to suffer such a gaffe.

Sebastian Vettel, who won four world titles with Red Bull at the beginning of the previous decade, completely forgot about his former team when on the letter 'R', whilst also forgetting Racing Point, the former name of his current employers.

Max Verstappen did the same as he went for Renault over Red Bull, whilst Fernando Alonso answered AlphaTauri instead of his current team Alpine. Hamilton and Carlos Sainz were unable to name Haas for the letter 'H'.

Vettel's blunder did not stop him from claiming the top spot with 14 correct answers, with Mick Schumacher two points adrift in second and Lando Norris in third, a further point back. Hamilton was fifth with nine, while Yuki Tsunoda was last with only three.
