Hamilton set to give himself "an anchor" with London home

Lewis Hamilton has confirmed he is to provide himself with "an anchor" of a London home but will not be leaving Monaco on a permanent basis.

Hamilton has not lived in England since 2007 when he moved to Switzerland before switching to Monaco a few years later where a number of other F1 drivers reside.

Last year, though, Hamilton posted on social media that he had "missed England more than any year since I've lived abroad", which raised questions as to whether he might consider moving back home.

Four years ago, Hamilton purchased a property in Kensington, London, for £18million from Burberry chief designer Christopher Bailey which continues to be renovated.

Once completed, it will form a UK base for Hamilton, although he has conceded that: “I currently have no plans of changing where I live. I live in the dream place that all of the other drivers live in, Monaco.

“I do have a home in England which I am really excited to be finished so that when I do come to England I have finally an anchor, finally a place to call my own rather than staying in hotels which are never particularly enjoyable considering that is what we do a lot through the year."

Hamilton, who has raced in F1 since 2007 and this year heads into his 15th season with the goal of winning a record-breaking eighth title, is at least considering what life may look like after calling time on his glittering career.

“I think it is the start of something great and a place that I will be able to naturally have my family come to and maybe in the future have a family in,” added Hamilton.
