Alpine renews Mecachrome F1 partnership

Alpine has extended its partnership of over two decades with component manufacturer Mecachrome with the signing of a new four-year contract.

In its former guise as Renault, the team and Mecachrome enjoyed a long-standing engine relationship, with the latter providing the "assembly service" for the French manufacturer's power units.

The association between the two parties was in place during the period when Fernando Alonso won his two world titles in 2005 and '06, and continued in the absence of a Renault factory team to aid Sebastian Vettel to his four titles between 2010-'13 with Red Bull.

The new deal reflects the existence of the current V6 turbo-hybrid power units before a new engine is introduced from 2025.

Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi said: "Working with a historical partner like Mecachrome is an asset in our project to return to the highest level of F1.

"Continuity is a strength in this ultra-competitive and ever-changing sport. We have a lot of success stories to look forward to together."

Alonso has returned to F1 after two years out of the sport and partners Esteban Ocon this year at Alpine, with the team launching its car on March 2.

Expressing his pride at the new deal, Mecachrome CEO Christian Cornille added: "We are very proud of the renewed confidence shown by Alpine Racing.

"Thanks to new investments to support this development, the Mecachrome teams continue to be deeply involved to contribute to the success of this project."
