Hamilton OUT of Brazilian GP qualifying

Originally written by Joas van Wingerden. This version is a translation.

Lewis Hamilton has crashed out of Brazilian Grand Prix qualifying just a few minutes into the round.

Following three impressive practice rounds in which he finished first on two occasions, Hamilton was expected to claim pole as he celebrates winning the world championship.

But after just a single sector of his opening lap, Hamilton lost control at turn seven, skidding across the asphalt and into the barrier at a significant pace.

After a brief period of concern, Hamilton confirmed he was ok, then received a standing ovation from the Brazilian crowd as he returned to the pit lane.

It is now all but certain that, barring other penalties, Hamilton will start the grand prix at the very back of the grid.
