Stroll in the hole as gearbox penalty looms

Originally written by Joas van Wingerden. This version is a translation.

Lance Stroll is the latest driver facing a grid penalty after after he suffered gearbox failure in the final practice session ahead of qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Stroll's car ground to a halt in the middle of the track, with the driver unable to complete even a single lap in Interlagos.

As he took the long walk back around to the paddock he was informed that he faced a grid penalty as a result, with him likely to be penalised to the tune of five places for tomorrow's race.

Stroll joined the likes of Daniel Ricciardo, Brendon Hartley and Pierre Gasly, who are all facing shifts down the grid as a result of engine problems in yesterday's practice sessions.
