Hamilton should move to Ferrari next year - Martin Brundle
Former racing driver turned Sky Sports pundit Martin Brundle has admitted that he would like to see Lewis Hamilton join Ferrari before the end of his career.
The Brit is currently a six-time world champion and going for his seventh in 2020 which would equal the record held by Michael Schumacher.
However, his contract with Mercedes runs out at the end of the upcoming campaign, with speculation mounting as to what his next career move could be, whether it be remaining with the Silver Arrows, moving to another team, or retiring altogether.
Brundle is of the opinion that he should don the red of Ferrari.
“I hope he does go to Ferrari because that would be a great story,” Brundle told the Evening Standard.
“To match Michael Schumacher and win a championship with three different teams, that would be impressive."
Brundle does admit that the smart thing to do would probably be to remain with Mercedes as they have the best car, while he has built connections within that team over the last few years.
But, as a fan of the sport, he would like to see him drive for the Scuderia.

“I asked him this question the other day and he said ‘I’ve got red in my crash helmet, red’s one of my favourite colours’ but he’s got his feet under the table at Mercedes," he conceded.
“They’re probably the best team, paying him a shedload of money and he can be a Mercedes ambassador for the rest of his days. You’ve got to think long and hard before you walk away from all of that really just to change the colour of your team.
“We’ll see what Ferrari do this year but, do they look like they’ve got the might of the current Mercedes team? I don’t know. We don’t know where Mercedes are heading in the future so let’s wait and see.
“If I had my driver’s manager cap on, I’d be telling him ‘You’re not going anywhere, son, you’re staying here’.
“But as a fan, I’m feeling like ‘get to Ferrari, give us something to really look forward to’," Brundle concluded.
Hamilton will start his title defence this weekend when he takes to the track at the Australian Grand Prix.
