VIDEO: Lewis Hamilton's Abu Dhabi pole lap

Matthew Scott

Lewis Hamilton signed off qualifying duties for 2019 with his 88th career pole position at the Abu Dhabi GP.

Formula 1's greatest qualifier of all time, Hamilton has not had it all his own way on Saturdays this year and this was just his fifth pole of the year.

He took it in dominant fashion, though, going three tenths quicker than nearest rival Max Verstappen, who was third-fastest behind Valtteri Bottas - the Finn coming into the weekend knowing he would start last.

Hamilton set a new lap record at the Yas Marina Circuit in the process - here's how he did it.
