Vettel opens up on F1 retirement plans

Sebastian Vettel says he is not considering retirement from Formula 1 any time soon, but says he will step away for good when he does decide to hang up his gloves.

Vettel's future in F1 has come under the microscope this season, with the Ferrari driver having expressed frustration with the sport in its modern format on several occasions.

His frustrations have been compounded by Charles Leclerc largely outperforming him, with the Monegasque set to become just the second team-mate to finish above Vettel across a season.

Asked if the rise of younger drivers made him fear for his future, Vettel told DPA: "No, certainly not.

"I think age is not as crucial to us as it is in some other sports. But in the end, it's the same with every sport – if you're good enough, you're still young enough.

"I have been in Formula 1 for 12 years now and therefore I have a very different perspective than before.
