Valtteri Bottas brought out a second red flag in quick succession of FP2 in Austria, wrecking the front end of his Mercedes after skidding into the barriers at Turn 6.

Bottas lost control of his car and collided head-first with the barriers, causing significant damage.

The Finn was on his first fast lap after a red flag session brought out by Max Verstappen, who damaged his Red Bull at the penultimate corner in Spielberg.

Teams up and down the grid have been counting the cost of the Red Bull Ring biting back when drivers go off-limits.

It remains to be seen if Bottas' crash will impact his weekend further in the form of grid penalties.
