Hulkenberg, Sainz Austrian GP penalties confirmed

The new Renault engine is fitted again.

Carlos Sainz and Nico Hulkenberg will take Renault's upgraded engine for the Austrian Grand Prix, incurring grid penalties that will drop both to the back of the grid. Daniel Ricciardo took the new engine at Paul Ricard, finishing seventh on the road, although he was classified out the points.

Ricciardo was booted from the top 10 for leaving the track to pull off last-lap overtakes on Lando Norris and Kimi Raikkonen, but enjoyed a positive weekend.

Hulkenberg did not take the upgrade in France as Renault did not want grid penalties in their home race, while McLaren team principal Andreas Seidl confirmed they will take a measured approach to the update.

Both Hulkenberg and Sainz will drop to the back of the grid as a result of their upgrades, joining Alexander Albon, who will join them there as he has a new Honda power unit on-board his Toro Rosso at the Red Bull Ring.
