VIDEO: Hamilton's record-breaking French GP pole lap

VIDEO: Hamilton's record-breaking French GP pole lap

Lewis Hamilton took the 86th pole position of his career ahead of the 2019 French Grand Prix as the Mercedes man once again flexed his one-lap muscles to leave Silver Arrows team-mate Valtteri Bottas in his wake at Circuit Paul Ricard.

Hamilton toured the 3.630 miles in Le Castellet in just one minute 28.319 seconds, obliterating the track record that he set by taking pole here 12 months prior.

Bottas joining him on the front row ensured a 63rd one-to qualifying result for Mercedes – a new all-time F1 record.

Having put himself in the perfect position to repeat last year's victory, sit back and enjoy Hamilton's blistering pole lap below.
