F1 TV Pro to be released in eight more countries
Formula 1 has confirmed that its live streaming service F1 TV Pro will be released in eight new territories in 2019, with new viewers set for an immediate treat as the first pre-season test in Barcelona will be aired in full on the platform.
Fans in Cyprus, Denmark, Greece, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal and Sweden will be able to sign up for F1 TV Pro from February 18, with more territories to be added through the year according to Formula 1.
F1 TV Pro launched to much fanfare last year, but things soon turned sour for F1 as the product was beset by technical difficulties, which prompted a raft of refunds.
Improvements have been made since, and attempts to attract new fans to the product this year have led F1 to broadcast pre-season testing in full for the first time – eight hours of on-track action and a 60-minute recap will be aired during the first event.
"Following the beta launch of F1 TV last year, our goal is to continue to enhance the product to include more markets, content and platforms," said Frank Arthofer, Director of Digital, Licensing and New Business at Formula 1.
"Our ambition is to provide fans with a terrific product that allows them to personalise their viewing experience and deepen the insight available to them about the sport they love.
"By broadcasting testing for the first time, we are ensuring F1 TV Pro subscribers are rewarded with all the latest action from pre-season."
Pre-season testing will also be broadcast by Sky Sports in the UK.
