Haas appeal against Grosjean's Monza disqualification

Haas will lodge an appeal against Romain Grosjean's disqualification from the Italian Grand Prix due to technical infringements surrounding the floor of their car. Renault launched a protest against Haas at Monza, after Grosjean's sixth-place finish moved the American squad above them in the constructors' standings.

The floor of Grosjean's car was found to be "not in compliance" with technical regulations at Monza.

Kevin Magnussen appears not to have been subjected to any punishment, although he finished last of the classified drivers in 17th.

The stewards' finding revealed that the FIA had known that Haas' car was against the regulations during the summer break, but the American had been delaying introducing a new part until the Singapore Grand Prix - in a fortnight's time - citing issues with suppliers.

The FIA permitted Haas to race with the non-compliant part, but warned they would leave themselves open to protests from rival teams.

It is reported that Renault took pictures of Grosjean's car on the Monza grid, before submitting them as evidence when they protested post-race.

The disqualification had ramifications elsewhere.

Force India jump to seventh in the constructors' standings - ahead of Williams, Sauber and Toro Rosso - just two races into their new life as Racing Point Force India after Esteban Ocon and Sergio Perez were promoted to sixth and seventh respectively.

It also moves Sergey Sirotkin up from 11th place - securing his first point in F1. The Russian was the only driver on the grid yet to score in 2018, but has now completed a double-points finish for Williams after Lance Stroll came home 10th - now improved to ninth.
