In pictures: Leclerc returns to the track in Fiorano test

Charles Leclerc began his on-track preparations for the coming season with a private test in the 2018 car at Fiorano.

After Ferrari Driver Academy products Giuliano Alesi, Marcus Armstrong and Robert Shwartzman took to the track on Monday, on Tuesday it was the turn of Leclerc.

Following his recovery from Covid-19 after testing positive for the virus earlier this month, Leclerc returned to the cockpit for the first time since the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in December, just 44 days ago.

It did not all according to plan for Leclerc as in the cold conditions and with the tyres not fully up to temperature, there was an excursion across the grass at one point.

Carlos Sainz will make his Ferrari debut on Wednesday for a full day of running, with time also allocated to the Spaniard on Thursday morning.

GPFans has compiled a series of photographs of Leclerc's first track day of the year.
