Why Mercedes are 'impossible to beat' - Villeneuve
Do we need a change of scenery in F1?
Mercedes' dominance of Formula 1 is ruining the sport, according to Jacques Villeneuve, who believes the Silver Arrows are now in such a position that their grip on the grid will not be loosened without a significant change to the regulations.
Since the dawning of the V6 Hybrid era in 2014, Mercedes have taken a clean sweep of drivers' and constructors' world titles – a five-year run matching the most dominant period in F1 history; that of Ferrari at the turn of the century.
Six straight title doubles is an unprecedented feat in F1, but seems to be on the cards for Mercedes, who are 118 points clear of Ferrari in the team standings after six races in 2019.
Liberty Media have made great noise about shaking up the sport in 2021 when a new Concorde Agreement will be agreed, and Villeneuve says a diluted change will only result in more Mercedes winning.
