Leclerc desperate for Ferrari to improve in Canada
Charles Leclerc says he “really hopes” Ferrari can finally kickstart their season in the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend, in a track which the team will be looking to take advantage of due to its high-speed racing and long straights which could match their power.
In Leclerc’s maiden campaign with the Scuderia, things haven’t got smoothly, Despite showing tremendous speed in pre-season testing, they are yet to win a race in 2019, with Mercedes even claiming five one-two finishes in a row in the first five races.
One of the issues is their slow pace round corners, which renders their speed on straights as less effective on lap times. However, with the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve featuring more straights than, say, the Monaco GP, Leclerc is hoping Ferrari can take advantage.
“The Canadian Grand Prix should be an opportunity to try and bring home a good result,” the Monegasque driver said.
“We must do everything well to prepare the car right down to the last detail so that we can get the most out of Last week, I was in the simulator in Maranello to work on settings and on improving the car and myself for this round.
All about that CAN-do attitude this week 😉

“I find this track very interesting, because it includes various types of corner and a long straight where it should be possible to overtake.”
“I really hope we can have a successful weekend.”
Last year, whilst with Sauber, Leclerc got into the points positions, but he is obviously looking for much better with the power of Ferrari behind him this time.
“Last year, I managed to finish in the points and so this year, the aim is to do better,” he insisted.
After six races, Leclerc is fifth in the drivers’ championship for 2019.
