VIDEO: Gasly on respect and friendship with Verstappen

They go back further than you might think.

Pierre Gasly says a friendship and great respect has already blossomed between himself and new Red Bull team-mate Max Verstappen. The pair were rivals in their karting careers, but have been thrown together at an ambitious Red Bull-Honda outfit for 2019.

Daniel Ricciardo's shock departure to Renault has thrust Gasly into the spotlight this year, having enjoyed a solid first full campaign in F1 with Toro Rosso last year.

His 2018 campaign featured a magnificent fourth-place finish in Bahrain, Honda's best result since returning to F1 in 2015 until Verstappen secured a podium last time out in Australia.

And with a return to Sakhir on the schedule this week, Mobil 1 The Grid chatted to the Frenchman to get the skinny on the Red Bull team-mates.
